Our library of messages is designed to be applied to AOL Instant Messenger, so we support you in using the special characters %n (AOL IM will insert the screen name of the person viewing your away message/profile), %t (inserts the current time), and %d (inserts the current date). In addition to that, we allow visitors to our site to customize the entries in the library by having their screen name automatically displayed in messages that refer to the owner in the third person. ("Hi! I'm Margie's computer. Please leave a message.") In order to facilitate this, use the special combination %v to indicate that the visitor viewing the entries should have their name inserted into your message at that point. (The above example would be entered, "Hi! I'm %v's computer. Please leave a message.") If visitors do not enter a handle, %v will be replaced with "{Your name}" as they view the entries in our library.
Obscene or profane submissions, or those which include derogatory personal attacks, will automatically be removed from our database before appearing online. This is a family-friendly site, and crude or offensive entries will not be tolerated. By submitting your away messages and profiles to IM Central, you agree that we may edit and publish them in any form. Any personally identifying information will be removed to protect you from being targeted by spammers.
